Find a Dentist

Search 153,000+ U.S. dental provider records by specialty, city, ZIP code, radius, and language — endodontists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, orthodontists, pediatric dentists, prosthodontists, and general dentists.

Dental Refer is referral software for dental practices, and this directory is its front door. Find the office you want to send a case to, open the profile, and send a structured referral with the radiographs already attached instead of a fax cover sheet.

Browse by specialty

Each specialty hub describes what that specialty treats, lists the procedures its members commonly perform, and links onward to the metros where there is enough provider data to say something specific about the area.

Every hub is listed on the specialty index, and the full provider directory is searchable by practice name, city, and NPI.

What a search result gives you

  • Practice name, city, state, and ZIP, plus the office phone number when the listing carries one.
  • Specialty tags, self-reported languages spoken, and whether the office has marked itself as accepting referrals.
  • The office's own Google rating, where one exists. That is the public rating carried over, not a Dental Refer score, and results are not ordered by it unless you pick that sort.
  • A map pin that is either exact or approximate. Approximate pins are drawn at the ZIP centroid and labelled as such — read one as “somewhere in this ZIP”, never as a street address.
  • A link to the full profile, and to start a referral once you are signed in.

How a referral moves after you send it

  1. Draft the referral against the provider you picked and attach what the specialist will need — periapicals, bitewings, panoramic films, CBCT, intraoral photos, or a PDF.
  2. Send it. Offices already on Dental Refer receive it in their inbox; offices that are not yet on the platform receive it through the fax and email bridge, and the referral converts to native tracking when that office signs up.
  3. Track it. The workflow carries twenty stages between draft and closed loop, so “sent”, “scheduled”, and “treated” stay distinguishable states rather than an assumption.
  4. Message the other office in the same thread when something needs clarifying, instead of a phone-tag chain the chart never sees.
  5. Receive a structured report back — diagnosis, treatment performed, prognosis, follow-up requirements, clinical notes — attached to the referral it answers.

Attachments are virus-scanned before they become accessible, encrypted at rest, and served through short-lived signed URLs. Accepted formats and size limits are listed in the FAQ, and the full compliance posture is on the HIPAA page.

What this directory is built from

Listings come from the public NPPES NPI registry published by CMS, plus whatever an office adds once it claims its profile. Registry data goes stale between updates: practices move, merge, retire, and change names.

Records are matched against the NPI registry, not against state licensure boards. Inclusion here is not a recommendation, a ranking, or a credential check — confirm licensure and privileges through your state dental board, and confirm the office is taking the case, before you send it. Any NPI can be looked up directly at the NPPES NPI Registry.
